38-2130 Language Learning and Linguistic Development This course develops students’ understandings of typical and atypical speech and language development from birth through age eight in monolingual and multi-lingual children and includes a focus on the rights of the learner. Students explore the relationships among linguistic, language, and other areas of development and learning. Since language is integral to thinking and learning processes, it frames students’ examination of the biological, environmental, social, and cultural components of language learning and linguistic development.
