52-1701 Introduction to Literary Interpretation


Course introduces students to key terms, concepts, and techniques of literary interpretation, with attention to questions of genre, period, and critical perspective. Students analyze selections of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and/or drama representing a range of historical periods and cultural traditions, and they learn to compose evidence-based interpretive arguments. Course is open to students in Creative Writing.
