22-2145 Arts of Africa Course introduces the arts of Africa south of the Sahara Desert, including sculpture, painting, textiles, architecture, pottery, metalwork, and body arts. Material spans 2,500 years of art history, including the works of contemporary artists. Several ethnic groups and individual artists are highlighted to explore these major themes: the relationship between art and African culture, religion, and politics; the role of the artist in African society; and changes in African art over time. 3 Credits GA
