DANC 101 Modern Dance for Non-Majors In this course students will study the fundamental principles, practices and vocabulary common to modern dance through a daily practice of warm-up exercises and movement combinations. Emphasis will be on developing conditioning, coordination, alignment, clarity, movement pick-up and artistry. Students will be exposed to the basic historical and philosophical context for the emergence of Modern/Contemporary Dance and will supplement their movement studies with readings from applicable texts, attending performances and written responses.
