DANC 105 Modern IA In this course students study the fundamental principles, practices and vocabulary common to Modern dance through a daily practice of warm-up exercises and movement combinations. Classes consist of a series of technical exercises that condition the body for strength, flexibility, endurance, and coordination; develop a physical and conceptual awareness of the elements of space, time, and energy; and promote performance skills of concentration, focus, and musicality. Live musicians accompany all dance major technique classes. Modern Technique IA is the first course in a two-semester sequence. Modern Technique IA is a prerequisite for Modern Technique IB.
