MUSC 361 Music, Time, and Place I This course addresses ways in which music shapes and is shaped by its social, cultural, and historical contexts. Through reading, writing, and focused listening, students explore the range of philosophies undergirding diverse musical practices and the processes through which those philosophies change over time. Students examine the technical features of specific musical examples as they engage with the aesthetic and ideological issues animating musical practice.
