SIGN 160 ASL Fingerspelling ASL Fingerspelling looks at the use of the ASL alphabet in the hands of native users and focuses on specific features of production that non-native users often have trouble understanding. Emphasis is on how to use and understand fingerspelling and how to make and understand appropriate changes in handshapes and patterns. The course will also cover the history and structure of fingerspelling in American Sign Language and the lexicalization of fingerspelling.
