THEA 203 Voice for the Actor This course teaches the practice of healthy vocal use by exploring the processes of speech production. Knowledge of the basic anatomy of the breathing musculature and vocal mechanism will support the student actor’s developing technique. Particular attention will be paid to freeing both the body and voice from over-effort. The speech sounds of the General American English dialect will be introduced as a tool for students to develop energy and clarity in articulating thought. Students will build their palette of vocal expression through the use of dramatic text.
