COMM 220 Media Activism


In this experiential class, you and your team will work together with a community of your choice on a Participatory Action Research (P.A.R.) project to address a social issue through media creation. You will also explore theories of media activism with a series of guest speakers and field trips to various locations in Chicago. 

Upon successful completion of this course, you should demonstrate that you can:

  1. Identify and appropriately apply media activism theories with community members
  2. Collaboratively work on a Participatory Action Research (P.A.R.) project with your team and community members
  3. Plan a comprehensive media-based solution to address a particular community need
  4. Evaluate and reflect upon media activism with peer evaluation and empathic feedback
