ARTS 356 Performance Art This course gives students a comprehensive introduction to the history and practice of performance art with a particular emphasis on the performative body in art since the 1960s, including experiments in live art in feminism and multiculturalism that have made particular use of performance. Students will respond to prompts to create their own performance works, which will be presented for critique. Particular emphasis will be placed on idea development and the role of the experiential in art production and reception. Various documentation strategies will be covered in the class, including photographic and video techniques.
