ANIM 211 Alternative Strategies in Animation Course explores alternative approaches to the normally highly structured, technically oriented process of creating an animated film. Students will be expected to be curious and imaginative as they are introduced to unorthodox approaches including sand, pastels, drawing directly on film stock, paint-on-glass, and other techniques. Students will also view and discuss films created by non-mainstream artists/animators such as Len Lye, Norman McLaren, and others, which will introduce them to highly graphic and imaginative movement and messages.
