ANIM 331 Digital Animation Techniques Current 2D Trends This course provides students with a comprehensive introduction to contemporary digital animation techniques and aesthetics employed by traditional animators in professional productions. Students will apply fundamental animation principles across a range of techniques and software to create paperless, hand-drawn animations using digital drawing tablets.
The curriculum includes hands-on exploration of rotoscoping, multi-planing, cut-out rigging, and animation expressions, as well as an introduction to motion graphics and basic compositing and visual effects (VFX). Through a blend of theory and practical application, students will develop the skills to produce dynamic animations while understanding the artistic and technical considerations driving the animation industry today.
