This course teaches students basic principles of literary magazine editing, production, and content-creation. You will learn the fundamentals of editorial selection, copyediting, proofreading, content writing, production, and distribution. Work in class includes the processing and managing of submissions; discussing, as editors, the poems submitted to the journal; managing editorial correspondence (rejections and acceptances); amplifying Allium’s social media presence; discussing which writing from the final manuscript will be published in our online issues and which will be published in our print issue: and an overview of budgeting and financial considerations for publication projects.
