MATH 111 Quantitative Career Skills In this course, you will develop skills for career-readiness by applying mathematical and symbolic reasoning to areas that are vital to success in creative and entrepreneurial pursuits. You will build critical thinking and problem-solving skills through active engagement and varied demonstrations of learning, using a free textbook and courseware specifically designed for Columbia. You will also build a foundation in analytical skills, regardless of your major, with an emphasis on practical application over abstract theory. These applications may include: managing personal and business finances (e.g., loans, credit), understanding shapes and spaces, analyzing data and graphs, and using logic to interpret complex language (e.g., contracts and other legal documents).
