43-3622 Networks and Networking for Media Through lectures, readings and hands-on experience, this course provides a basic understanding of the networks and networking protocols necessary for reliable, secure communication in a digital media world. Intended for students who have completed the department’s core curriculum, it is also offered to non-majors with instructor approval. Major topics include network topologies (LAN, WAN, WLAN, MAN) and protocols (primarily TCP/IP), IP addressing hierarchies, switching, routing, and VLANs, and network security.
