Financial Management Certificate

Financial data provides key insights into a business’s performance, and leaders in creative industries need to be able to tell the story behind the numbers. The Financial Management Certificate provides students with a practical framework to analyze, interpret, assess, and communicate the finances of a business or arts organization. Students will learn a variety of highly transferable skills including spreadsheet design and management, basic accounting, and financial statement analysis, all while gaining a key understanding of the language of business.
As a result of successfully completing program requirements, students should be able to:

Utilize spreadsheet functions, data visualization, and pivot tables to analyze data leading to well-informed decision-making;

Prepare and interpret financial statements, including the income statement, statement of equity, balance sheet, and statement of cash flows for a variety of businesses or organizations;

Apply financial management concepts such as evaluating investment opportunities, analyzing project viability, and assessing a business or organization’s financial performance;

Analyze various transactions, understanding their impact on the financial position and performance of a business or organization;

Assess financial scenarios for ethical implications, considering the interests of key stakeholders, the industry, and society; and

Communicate a diverse range of financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
