The Sports Management minor prepares students to compete in the dynamic global sports industry by integrating foundational business knowledge with specialized training in marketing, law, digital strategy, negotiation, and revenue generation. Students gain the skills needed to manage sports organizations, develop sponsorship strategies, oversee ticketing and fan-engagement systems, and navigate the legal and commercial complexities of the creative and sports sectors. Students will be equipped to innovate, and contribute meaningfully to the rapidly evolving world of sports entertainment.
Upon successful completion of program requirements, students should be able to:
demonstrate foundational knowledge of sports business operations;
apply core marketing principles to develop targeted sports marketing campaigns;
interpret and apply legal frameworks relevant to the sports and creative industries, including intellectual property, contracts, and NIL (name, image, likeness) rights;
utilize box office management principles to optimize ticketing strategies, pricing models, venue operations, and fan experience;
design and implement social media and digital communication strategies that enhance fan engagement, brand presence, and community building, and;
use negotiation strategies to communicate effectively in high-stakes discussions involving athletes, sponsors, venues, and media partners.
