The goal of the minor in Directing is to provide students with a concentrated introduction to the theories, skills, and practice of directing for the theater. Students will study directing as a multifaceted discipline involving an understanding of the process of acting, the introduction of technical and design elements, organization through project management, as well as a thorough comprehension of dramatic structure. In the minor’s capstone course, students will coordinate all of these elements through the production of a one-act play.

This minor will be of interest to students who wish to develop an understanding of the skills necessary to conceptualize, organize, and facilitate the preparation of scripted material for performance.
