28-1718 Business of Live and Performing Arts This course introduces students to management fundamentals of both not-for-profit and for-profit organizations involved in the producing, presenting and promoting of live entertainment and the performing arts. It gives students an overview in conceptualizing, forming, financing, managing and operating such entities, and bringing a live event from idea conception to night-of-show and beyond. These concepts are explored through both theoretical discussions and practical exercises that focus on evaluation of real live events, from concerts to theater productions and other forms of live entertainment. This course is an entry point for other Live and Performing Arts Management classes, a requirement for students pursuing a Live and Performing Arts Management degree, and is also open to non-Business and Entrepreneurship majors.
