                  32-1120  Theory I This beginning course in music literacy covers basic concepts of notation, rhythm, tonality, and harmony, emphasizing in-depth understanding of the phrase (including cadences and tonic and dominant expansion), issues in four-part writing including voice leading, embellishing tones, motivic analysis, sequences, and secondary dominants. Students learn written musical theory for these topics and have the ability to replicate them through performance.
