33-3445 Artists and Audiences This course explores the work and rewards of making, teaching, and producing dance and performance in a local-to-global setting. Through reading, reflection and discussion on the artist’s role in society, the class will investigate cultural policy and community-based activism in and through artistic practice. Students will undertake writing and creative assignments aimed at challenging them to develop and articulate their own positions on what they want to do with and through dance. The course features periodic guest speakers, panel discussions, and interaction with working professionals in various functions in the dance and performance world.
