56-1710 Basic Math Skills Basic Math Skills is designed for college students who have a weak background in mathematics and who may exhibit math anxiety. The course concentrates on operations involving fractions, decimals, and percents. Measurement, geometry, statistics, and the principles of algebra are also introduced. The class focuses on student participation, collaborative learning, and activities that develop students’ problem solving and critical thinking skills. (Basic Math Skills does not satisfy the College’s mathematics requirement.)
