HUMA 103 Introduction to Latin American Studies This interdisciplinary humanities course serves as a basic introduction to the social, historical and cultural complexity of Latin America and the Caribbean Basin. From Pre-Columbian times to the contemporary moment, the course examines issues of colonialism and sovereignty, indigeneity, cultural diversity and cultural difference, modernity, postmodernity, and globalization through a variety of historical documents and drawing on all the arts–especially film, literature, music, fine arts and popular culture.
