CRWR 210 Narrative Workshop
In this creative writing course, we will employ multiple elements of narrative to create works in various forms and genres and, potentially, across modalities and media. Some examples of narrative texts that we’ll both read and write are short stories, flash fiction, personal essay, memoir, oral histories, narrative poetry, and portions of novels or autobiographies. Narrative writing may include or lead to productions that use other media and/or get disseminated across audio, visual, performance, and/or digital platforms. Alongside our engagement of assigned readings and other texts, a mainstay of this workshop is writing with in-class prompts that may lead to further development, collaborations, and/or transdisciplinary practice. By honing your observation skills and sensory awareness, and by developing both patience and imagination, you’ll be writing and revising creative narrative content in a supportive, community-building environment. A further aim of this course is to equip you to engage with local communities of creative writers and practitioners across disciplines.
