ANIM 120 Visual Storytelling and Aesthetics This course explores the fundamental principles of visual storytelling and the role of aesthetics in conveying narratives across various media. Students will analyze the techniques used in animation, games, and visual effects to create compelling visual narratives. Emphasis will be placed on the interplay between imagery and storytelling elements, including composition, color theory, and visual rhythm.
Through a combination of lectures, discussions, and hands-on projects, students will develop their understanding of how visual aesthetics can enhance or transform linear or non-linear narratives. Case studies of iconic works will be examined to illustrate the impact of visual choices on audience perception and emotional engagement. By the end of the course, students will have gained a deeper appreciation for the art of visual communication.
