CINE 490 Capstone Experience


This capstone experience is the rotating topics course in the School of Film and Television provides students the opportunity to apply advanced theories and techniques in screenwriting, film and television studies, producing, directing, cinematography, sound, production design, and post-production. Students can customize their capstone experience based on their specific interests, selecting from a variety of project formats, such as: 

  • A television series bible, short or feature-length screenplay 

  • Critical analysis paper/video essay 

  • Documentary project 

  • Fictional film 

  • Sketch comedy 

  • Alternative forms of storytelling 

  • Postproduction-focused project 

Throughout the semester, students will students will either work individually or in teams and refine their skills in a chosen focus area. In this course, students apply filmmaking practices introduced in earlier coursework to complete a professional, portfolio-quality piece-whether it’s a polished screenplay, a short film ready for festivals, or a unique project showcasing their creative and technical abilities.
