CINE 244 Directing Techniques


Course establishes the essential techniques of narrative directing:  text analysis, casting, the actor-director relationship, rehearsal techniques, visual storytelling, point-of-view, preproduction, camera blocking, shot selection, scene coverage and effective critiquing skills. Emphasis is on the development of director’s breakdowns, pre-visualization, set-etiquette, and fundamental collaboration with key department heads. Directing exercises culminate with the blocking and staging of a cinematic narrative scene.
