38-2110 Foundations II: Philosophy and Curricular Approaches in Early Childhood Education Students explore history of early childhood and elementary education to understand how it has been influenced by the social, political, and economic forces affecting the lives of children and families. The course profiles significant theories and people who have shaped early childhood education, focusing on recent centuries. Students consider what and who determines the goals of education, who defines and articulates the problems of education, and how that determines what solutions are created.
