42-6226 Multicultural Education Seminar This course presents the philosophy, pedagogy and competencies of multicultural education, with an emphasis on how multicultural education relates to the teaching of social studies. Teacher candidates evaluate current textbooks and supplementary material for multicultural content and sensitivity as well as explore social studies activities, which have an emphasis on cultural understanding. To promote the teacher candidates’ reflection on how their classroom practices reflect an understanding of multicultural education, candidates are introduced to the practice of action research.
