31-3305 Singing for the Actor I This course focuses on proper techniques for breathing, projection, voice placement, and articulation taught through singing. Instruction emphasizes text interpretation and characterization in song. This is not a class that teaches the actor to be a singer, but a class that teaches singing technique to broaden the actor’s spoken vocal range. Course instruction makes actors more comfortable with singing as part of their acting equipment. Students give public performance at semester end.
3 Credits PREREQUISITES: 31-2200 Scenes: Performance & Analysis and 31-2300 Voice for the Actor
