36-1310 Art+Code I This course allows students to explore making art with computer code. Students learn basic programming skills in a creative, artistic context using Processing, a robust and easy to learn language. Class time is divided between demonstration, practice and a survey of contemporary artists and programmers. Students consider automation, randomness, and algorithms as a medium of expression that challenges notions of authorship and creativity. Weekly exercises accumulate a set of methods and templates that students use in larger, more complex assignments.
