The Sound Design for Media and Stage BA immerses students in the art and science of creating, recording, and mastering audio for various media forms, including film, television, radio, theater, and video games. Students begin with foundational courses in creating soundscapes, designing sound effects, working with audio effects, recording techniques, foley, and post-production sound. As they progress, they explore specialized tracks in film and television sound, radio and broadcast sound, theatre sound, and video game audio.
The degree structure allows students to cross between applied fields during their course of study and as they advance in their professional lives, preparing them to work in multiple industry verticals. Career paths include sound design for cinema and television, game and other interactive media, and sonic object- and process-oriented enterprises, such as sound effect and sample library creation, sonic interaction design, and product-sound and sonic branding.
Throughout their studies, students gain hands-on experience in state-of-the-art studios, working with industry-standard tools and technologies. By their final year, students lead capstone projects that demonstrate their expertise and creativity. Graduates leave the program with a versatile portfolio and the skills to shape the future of audio in any media landscape.
