THEA 161 Introduction to Scenic Construction This course is a basic introduction to the construction of an interior architectural set. The class will focus on building basic set elements from raw material, and the assembling of these elements to form a theatrical set. Health and safety in the workplace will comprise a substantial section of the course. During the semester, students will experience the reading and interpretation of ground plans and drawings, the safe use of basic shop and power tools, and strategies for analyzing the construction of sets both on campus and in the professional world.
