SIGN 315 Deaf Education This course examines the education of people who are Deaf and hard of hearing. Topics include language acquisition, the history and practices of Deaf Education, and various types of technology used in Deaf Education. As Deafness is both a physical and cultural phenomenon, educational philosophies that have influenced Deaf Education will be discussed, as well as legislative initiatives that have impacted the lives of Deaf and hard of hearing children. Content includes lecture, discussion, basic research, and one field trip to a working School for the Deaf.
