DANC 351 Tap Dance: Improvisation Working alone, in duets, or small groups, students will experience warming up, guided dancing, and working within improvisational scores to develop of an artful point of view and become more expressive in their tap improvisations.
With an emphasis on rhythmic improvisation, students will learn the “musical feels”: straight, swing, triplets, double-time and syncopation while deepening their sense of musicality and rhythmic phrasing. In addition to rhythm, students will learn to understand and spontaneously compose using melody, harmony, form and color.
