AUDI 122 Sound Design for Storytelling This foundational production-oriented course introduces students to the essential concepts and practices of sound design. It is designed to increase students’ awareness of and sensitivity to the power of sound in storytelling across all media and art forms, especially moving picture, game and interactive, and theatre. Topics include finding, recording, synthesizing, editing, processing, and mixing sonic elements to achieve design goals. Through experimentation, analysis, and reflection, students learn how particular choices in selecting, recording, editing, and mixing sounds shape the overall storytelling, emotion, and atmosphere that artists/ producers/ directors convey in various media and artistic contexts.
