24-6705 Comparative Screenwriting: This is a repeatable course that provides the student with an extensive examination of the screenwriter’s role, career and development, and relationship to the production process. These objectives are achieved by comparing and contrasting two writers who operate in different ways. For example, a screenwriter who directs his or her own materials is compared to a writer whose work is directed by someone else; a Hollywood screenwriter is contrasted with an independent writer; a classical narrative writer is compared to a nontraditional writer. Students study the role of the screenwriter and the impact of the writer on the production process.
