32-2261 Digital Music Composition I

This course addresses the creative use of technology in music composition. Students will learn the basics of electroacoustic music, object-oriented computer programming, psychoacoustics, and live and automated manipulation of digital audio as they relate to sound production and music composition. This will require excursions into the disciplines of biology, physics, psychology, and acoustics. Through reading, listening, lectures, demonstrations and projects, composition students will gain computer experience essential to today’s composer.
