38-2155 The Exceptional Child Course provides introduction to concept of exceptionality and an overview of various forms of atypical growth and development. Course work includes psychology and identification of exceptional children. Focus is on children classified as having learning disabilities and their implications for classroom life in both special classes and inclusion settings. Course will present legislation as it relates to individuals with exceptionalities. It will focus on developing a collaborative partnership between parents and teachers in the school setting and on being sensitive to the child within the context of the family.
