38-2625J Child Growth and Development HS Course provides framework for studying the process of human development and explores the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of children, birth through age eight. Emphasis is placed on the role of culture in this process. Students integrate their understanding of development in various domains into a working knowledge of young children. Embedded in the organization of this course are the understandings that the arts and the growth of young children should be inextricably related and that a cariety of identites – race, gender, and ethnicity – shape children’s life experiences.
