38-6161 Characteristics of Students with Disabilities This course provides an exploration of the definition, characteristics, and assessment tools used to determine eligibility for each disability category under the Individuals with Disabilities Improvement Act 2004 (IDEA 2004). Historical, theoretical and research developments in each disability area will be discussed and the cognitive, behavioral, emotional, and social domains pertinent to the development of students with disabilities will be investigated. Models of service delivery and related service provision most appropriate to addressing the needs of the student are then examined.
