50-1513 Women and U.S. Society Course analyzes varying status, roles, and life opportunities of women in different historical periods and contemporary America. Content examines the socialization process of women and how and why specific roles are assigned to women. Class discusses consequences of women’s roles on individuals and society. Other topics of discussion include: how women’s roles vary by class, racial, and ethnic background; special problems and issues facing women; women and work; the feminist movement; and past and present strategies used by women for achieving social change.
