50-1703 Urban Geography: The Study of Cities Fifty percent of the global population and 80% of Americans live in cities. Urban geography is the social science that investigates the integration of built forms, human interactions and the environmental aspects of places. Course examines settlement patterns, the evolution of transportation, consumerism, neighborhood dynamics, urban planning issues, ethnic diversity, immigration and the built environment. This course will bring an understanding of what it means to be urban historically and in the 21st century.
