56-2120 Cancer Biology This course introduces students to the fundamental aspects of cancer biology. The underlying environmental and genetic causes that lead cells to transform into malignant cancer cells are investigated. Current methods of cancer screening and diagnosis, traditional treatment and cutting-edge therapies are examined and compared. In addition, the course explores possible measures to delay, reduce, and even prevent cancer development. Several specific types of cancers are examined and used as examples to illustrate the process of cell transformation into malignant cancers.
