56-2270 General Chemistry I General Chemistry I is a laboratory-intensive course. Content of the course includes the foundations of chemistry and problem-solving strategies; atoms, molecules and ions; balancing chemical equations and reaction stoichiometry; types of chemical reactions and solution stoichiometry; gases; thermochemistry; atomic structure and periodicity; chemical bonding and liquids and solids. It is highly recommended that students have had one year of high school chemistry.
